The photo-exposition ‘The Back of Things’ allows the visitor to ask themself the question: what is a house, what a home, how do I look at my own past and how do the voices of the generations before me sound through the things and the landscape around me? It depicts the Czech family home of four generations in the Eagle Mountains in the Czech Republic. The house has been for sale for a long time, but the family does not really want to part with it and stays there during holidays or for family visits. In the silence of this uninhabited house, you can hear the voices of previous generations. Inside, everything is mixed up: the goods of all those generations: broken kitchen utensils, old chairs, ski equipment from twenty years ago, children’s plates used by people who are now long dead, piles of landscape paintings of a grandfather who painted in his spare time in the attic and figurines from the socialist era next to colorless Ikea cabinets.
