Kana Maekawa solo exhibition “I've been here the whole time.” Summer 2023. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, I found a dead tree in a watch shop in a deserted town. The tree had been in the same place for 12 years, but had been exposed to radiation, turning completely white and resembling a skeleton. A few others and I rescued the tree. The tree is currently stored in a different location, but due to the high level of radiation, it cannot be easily displayed to the public. I decided to create an artwork using this dead tree as the subject.
